Reading time: 5 minutes
We are a society that likes the street, sharing moments, contact. It is true that when we lead a frenetic lifestyle we thank those moments we are at home alone, enjoying reading or a good coffee by ourselves.
But the current situation is very different. For our common good we have been imposed to stay at home, we talk of mixed feelings. On the one hand we know it is the right thing to do, but on the other hand it affects us emotionally. We are faced with a health problem that we do not control, that escapes our reasoning. We make an effort to understand, to be solidary, to empathise. All this generates uncertainty and unease, which produces emotional stress .
It is demonstrated that emotional stress affects the skin negatively, as it generates free radicals that make our face age rapidly, which produces a pallid face with lack of luminosity and dull skin. All this added to the loss (temporary) of our lifestyle makes our spirits deteriorate as we move less and relate less. This is why it is advisable to dedicate time to ourselves, to pamper ourselves and set a routine of cares to lift our spirits and delay skin ageing. We recommend you establish a care plan: facial cleansing, exfoliation, and weekly mask, exercise facial muscles with facial yoga routines and try to enjoy small pleasures that in normal times of work routine you couldn’t do .

Stress is a defence mechanism that our body has to guarantee its survival. However, when it becomes chronic it produces a series of effects that affect the whole body and produce skin problems due to the excess of free radicals: loss of suppleness, wrinkles, flaccidity, dull skin, darkspots or other more or less important diseases.
You have to protect yourself also indoors as 80% of our time we spend it in closed spaces. Pollution is not just an exterior phenomenon, it is anywhere, when we open the windows or doors the pollution enters our homes and accumulates mixing with other polluting particles emitted by the heating systems, the paint on the walls, cleaning products .
Similar in composition to exterior pollution (fine particles, heavy metals, VOCs, etc.) domestic pollution comes from heat and cooling sources, building and decorating materials (paints, furniture, etc.) or even cleaning and hygiene products (sulphates, shampoo, detergents, etc.) strongly delipidising and irritating, they debilitate the skin barrier increasing the risk of penetration of other types of pollutants like PM 2.5 in the skin .
Digital pollution
These days we are at home, until new notice, and although we try to entertain ourselves with other activities (reading, cooking, exercising, etc.) we go from the computer to the mobile phone, and from the mobile to the tablet: WhatsApp groups, memes, videos, photos, games, thousands of live broadcasts on Instagram to do an activity… it is really stressing and our skin notices it. But not only emotional stress can affect our face.

This regular and prolonged exposure to blue light emitted by these devices is a risk to our eyesight, our sleep and also our skin .
If the skin is not protected by the right products, the blue light emitted by these devices, like air pollution with PM2.5, can penetrate the skin and make the levels of collagen and suppleness rapidly decrease.
What is blue light?

Blue light is part of the solar spectrum. Its short wave length, situated between 380 and 500 nm, projects a great amount of energy that although in part is beneficial for our body it also can be harmful. Not only is it emitted by the sun, but also by a great number of artificial luminous sources such as computer screens, smart phones, tablets, televisions, and LED lamps. Just a small part of blue light is potentially dangerous; specifically the one that contains blue-violet wave lengths .
The skin becomes duller, less homogeneous, redness appears and hyperpigmentation is generated, even in high phototypes.
Unlike UV radiation that can produce sunburns rapidly and their consequences on the skin are immediately visible, the aggression produced by blue light is not instantaneous, it is produced progressively. It is by exposing and after a certain number of years that it produces hyperpigmentation and the appearance of wrinkles

TIPS:
To prevent our face from suffering during this quarantine we recommend carrying out a daily beauty routine to achieve a luminous, healthy, and radiant face. First, you have to cleanse your face morning and night with the suitable products for your skin type. You also need cosmetics that manage to strengthen your skin from inside, rejuvenating it and enhancing its self-defence capacity so its condition gradually recovers, and it works like a true shield during the whole day, a protection against domestic and air pollution, sun rays and now more than ever against digital pollution .
